New Prompt, New Business, New Stuff

September 14, 2003 1:48 p.m.

The time has come, the Walrus said, for a new prompt.

Though you must still add reviews, you may now do it for old or new pieces. I cannot stress enough how reviews need to be posted onto the site. At some point we may be able to get a Supergold membership and thus a comments system, but until then, please, please post reviews to the site. POST THIS HERE AS YOU WOULD A NORMAL ENTRY--use the author's pseudonym and simply write out your thoughts on the piece.

New Business: There are new features! First, attractive links for your site! Second, a list of favorite authors to which you may add any you think I have missed. For those who have not yet chosen a pseudonym, this may be good inspiration. Third, and in progress, it has been suggested that our member list ought to be jazzed up a bit with short comments on each writer so that visitors will know a bit more about us. So...since to compose one's own is hubris, I ask each of you to submit one or more comments for other members. You will not get your own comment posted until you have submitted one for another member--this is also a good way to find out who is involved in this site and who is merely sitting on the list. Leave a note with your comment. If you don't know anyone, go read their diary until you get an idea of their personality. There is an example up on the list now, for those slightly confused.

Finally, down to the prompt. This is a multiple choice selection--do either one, but extra credit for those who do the more difficult piece.

Numero Uno: Write a poem or short fiction about a sibling. If you are an only child, make one up. No word limit, no rules on Point of View or genre.

Two: Telephone Tag-- call (gasp!) another Montparnasse member and write a stream-of-consciousness piece inspired by the sound of their voice. (If you have already spoken to one, you need not make a new call, simply use your memory) What does the tone, melody, accent, timbre, make you think of? Is it what you expected after reading them? What picture does their voice paint in your mind? Calls may be one minute or one hour, it matters little. Contact other members via their own diaries for numbers and permission. I realize this group tends to shy from collaboration, so any who elects to try this experiment will have their efforts posted in the Louveciennes section, our own little hall of fame. Bon chance, lovelies. Any questions can be directed to the management.
