New Prompt

October 08, 2003 2:03 p.m.

All right, time for a new prompt. The last one was let go for a long time to give you a chance to make phone calls. This one will be up for approximately ten days, so let's get a little less phelgmatic, here. Also, you must review--there have been many, many pieces up and only about five reviews from the last prompt. Please continue to post reviews from the phone/sibling prompt--and anyone who didn't get a piece in before today should post it in L'Appartements. (password: nerezza.)

All in all, the phone calls were a smashing success and some of the pieces posted here were stunning. Go us--we are all so fearfully talented. I have no doubt that we host the best writers in Diaryland--probably the best writers online.

Some people have been removed from the list, either because they let me know they were unable to participate, or because they haven't answered my queries. If you have been removed, and should not have been, leave a note and complain loudly so I can put you back on. In addition, some people still haven't chosen a pseudonym--get on that. No one wants to see you awkward numerical Diaryland name. I think that about does it for new business.

Prompt

Write a poem (or a poem-y prose piece, we are looking for intense imagery here) which includes a mathematical formula. Any formula, Pythagorean theorem to the old E=mc2. Pretty simple, yes? The point is the contrast between rich images and scientific formulae, so break out your old chemistry book and I'll see you in the lab.
